COACHING – INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY, GROUP
As a Parent Coach, I offer Individual, Family and Group Coaching. In our individual coaching sessions, you will have an opportunity to speak to a professional about the issues you are facing as a parent and/or as a result of being a parent. These sessions are strictly confidential and non-judgmental. This is the place where you can release your deepest fears, anger, and anxieties. This is the place to build on your strengths and improve your weaknesses.
Individual Coaching is ideal for those that are shy and/or prefer a more private intimate setting to express them. Most people start off with individual sessions because they are unsure of what to expect. Many have never heard of Parent Coaching but it is no different than going to see a Business Coach to help you get on track with your business. Being that there is no perfect science to parenting and every household is different; each situation will require a unique treatment plan.
Family Coaching is available for those families seeking guidance on reconnecting, effective communication, developing boundaries and structure within the household.
Group Coaching is for those individuals seeking to vent, ask questions and/or seek advice on parenting from other peer parents.
INDIVIDUAL
Individual Coaching is a one on one experience between you and I where we get to know and trust one another. These individual sessions occur for a minimum of 8 weeks at 1 hour per session. Here we will discuss all aspects of your parenting skills and how you can enhance or modify your current methods. We will also discuss your personal goals and ambitions outside of parenting and how they relate to your parenting style and skills.
Home Sessions can be arranged and are actually recommended. This would give me an opportunity to see a portion of what you are dealing with as a parent. Usually your living space tells a lot about you and your parenting style. By me seeing this first hand, gives me a clearer picture of what we are dealing with and many of the other factors that may or may not be involved. When setting up your appointment, just indicate that you would like in-home coaching. Keep in mind, not all sessions have to be in home. It can be a combination of in-home and in the office. Sometimes, it is nice to get out of your comfort zone and be free to open up and discuss your situation(s). In-home visits normally last longer than a regular office visit because this will be our opportunity to visually discuss what is taking place within the home. The first initial in-house visit may last anywhere from 2 – 4 hours depending on the size of your home and the amount of people in it. It is not necessary for your family members to be home at the time of the visit. The session is about you, not them; although they may be involved indirectly.
** Please Note: Additional travel fees apply to all in-house visits.
Teleconferencing Coaching sessions are available for those that are not in the NYC area. Many people wonder if teleconferencing is effective. The answer is yes. As long as you are alone, concentrating, and are uninterrupted during the session; it will be effective. Prior to the teleconference you will receive the conference phone number, your corresponding pin number and a confirmation email. The day of the conference you will dial the conference number and enter the pin number you were provided. At that time, you and I will be on the call and will begin the coaching session. The session will last one hour (unless otherwise specified). We talk as if we were face to face. At the end of the session, we will schedule the following session.
Distance Site Visits are also available for those that live outside of the NYC area. Distance site visits should be scheduled a minimum of 3 weeks in advance. Again, not all visits have to be done in person. For example, I can fly out to Chicago to visit a client at their home. Our next few visits can be done via teleconference. It all depends on you. Since there is a higher cost involved, I recommend spending the entire day with you, giving me time to observe and ask the necessary questions needed as we continue future sessions.
* Please Note: Additional travel and accommodation fees apply to all out of area visits.
FAMILY
Family sessions are recommended to all families that are feeling disconnected or are experiencing turmoil. Family sessions have no definitive end time. However, you must commit to a minimum of 8 sessions. This time will be used to discover where the disconnection lies within your family and the best possible approach to mend it. A disconnect amongst people is usually a sign of distrust and miscommunication; therefore, during the family sessions we will go through a period of getting to know a little about each family member and the Who, What and/or Why they are unhappy within the family unit. Then we will take a look at the overall issues as a family unit. Once the issues have been identified, we will utilize treatment approaches such as role play, cognitive communication and listening exercises, and family activities within and outside of the coaching sessions in order to restore family cohesive behavior.
It is recommended that the entire family be present as all the issues are revealed and as the healing process begins. And although we do understand that it is not easy to get everyone together at the same time, these sessions must be a family effort that everyone is committed to. It is difficult to get to the root of the issues and come to a resolve if all parties are not present. Family cohesiveness also involves doing things together and attending the coaching sessions should be the first start.
**Please note that depending on what is uncovered, individual counseling sessions may be recommended for one or more of your family members.
GROUP
Group sessions are for parents not entire families. Family sessions are provided separately. Group sessions are held for an hour, once a week. This is the time when parents can get together to discuss the everyday trials and tribulations; joys and achievements of parenthood. There is so much to be said and so much can be learned from listening and observing fellow parents. I am confident that you will find these sessions most useful and comforting as you meet and interact with people that are experiencing similar parenting issues as you are. Group sessions are held in a friendly, confidential atmosphere. They are continuous – same day and time every week. This way you have an opportunity every week to release the stressors of everyday parenting (good and bad).
ONLINE COACHING
I offer online coaching to clients that already have an established foundation. At this point, we are on the same page and you are well on your way to achieving your goals. I would not need to hear your voice or see your face every session. By this time, I have a pretty good idea of what your words mean. Therefore, online communication would be sufficient and effective. I do not recommend online coaching to new clients. This is still a getting to know you period and you are getting to know me. There is a lot of work to be done before we reach the stage where online communication will be effective.
