WORKSHOPS
Parent workshops are provided to give parents an opportunity to learn effectively how to cope with various parental issues. After surveying hundreds of parents we have found that parents are struggling mainly with the idea of having and maintaining a separate life from their children. They are also having difficulty communicating and providing appropriate and effective disciplinary actions for their children. Therefore, we have created 2 main workshops, “Parents Have A Life Too” and “All About Parenting” that address these primary issues and more.
PARENTS HAVE A LIFE TOO
Does your Parents Have a Life Too (PHLT) workshop offer parental guidance for those struggling with career and home?
“Parent’s Have A Life Too” is an 8 week workshop designed to empowers parents not to lose touch with themselves after having children. Many parents, especially mothers, tend to lose themselves while dedicating their lives to their children. Although very noble, this is actually very unhealthy behavior. “Parents Have A Life Too” educates parents on how to multitask a life of their own while still performing the duties of a responsible parent. The workshop consists of various components such as: careers and education, financial literacy, “me” time, not losing the connection between you and your spouse/SO post children, and social networking and more.
How does the PHLT workshop help couples to distinguish their personal relationship from that of the entire family?
There is a section of the “Parents Have A Life Too” workshop that engages couples in various exercises to help them understand the importance of maintaining a separate life from their children. It is great to do things as a family but it is just as important for the parents to remember how and why they had their children in the first place. PHLT promotes the separation between parents and children without fostering neglectful behaviors. PHLT encourages continuous dating and socializing amongst couples.
How can I sign up for your Parents Have a Life Too workshop?
There is a new “Parents Have A Life Too” workshop every 8 weeks. We meet once a week for 60 to 90 minutes. Contact us to find out when the next PHLT workshop is scheduled to begin.
ALL ABOUT PARENTING
“All About Parenting” also known as AAP is an 8 week workshop that focuses on encouraging and motivating parents in the areas of healthy pregnancies, coping after birth including: breast feeding, post-partum depression, sleepless nights, etc. We also focus on parent-child interaction and communication, stages of child development & behavioral changes, appropriate and non appropriate disciplinary actions and developing parent/child boundaries. AAP teaches and reinforces general life skills that are needed to be an effective parent such as communication and listening skills, leadership skills, observation techniques, personality and character distinguishing, etc.
Does your “All About Parenting” workshop offer classes for 1st time parents and young adults?
AAP is for all parents and expecting parents. The workshop covers the foundation for pregnant moms as well. Although many parents have already gone through that stage, we cover it for those first time parents and for those that may become pregnant again. It is imperative to understand the concept and the fundamentals of parenting from its inception. We realize that although many people are not first time parents, they were never equipped with the fundamental concepts. So this course will give you the fundamental tools that will get you through the each year.
There is no perfect science to parenting but there are several key factors that will be very beneficial to all parents. Therefore, the curriculum is very thorough and geared towards the lifelong expectancy of parenthood.
Is your AAP workshop available for one-on-one coaching or strictly as a group?
Individual parent coaching is always available and appointments for that can be made separately. However, AAP is an interactive group workshop. We encourage people to join the group so they can hear the way other parents think and gather a different perspective on various issues. Also, AAP engages parents in several activities so that they learn from their fellow parents.
How can I sign up for your “All About Parenting” workshop?
A new “All About Parenting” workshop takes place every 8 weeks. We meet once a week for one hour. You can contact Terryl Ebony to inquire about the next AAP workshop time and dates.
